2010-12-02 19:55:29  blairteach -> EdTechTalk: Interesting to hear the background of your endeavors.

2010-12-02 20:02:16  Sheila -> EdTechTalk: Dog barking already. I'm that late?  Hi all!

2010-12-02 20:02:23  cheryloakes~seedlings -> EdTechTalk: you are on time!

2010-12-02 20:02:35  alicebarr -> EdTechTalk: Lilly is early!

2010-12-02 20:02:49  Sheila -> EdTechTalk: Whew!

2010-12-02 20:03:36  alicebarr -> EdTechTalk: Hi Sheila!

2010-12-02 20:03:41  stevesoko -> EdTechTalk: Do not discount the grace, fellowship and kindness of these Seedlings. As with all teaching a lot of the magic is the teacher. These guys exemplify that.

2010-12-02 20:03:43  Sheila -> EdTechTalk: Hi Alice!

2010-12-02 20:03:57  cheryloakes~seedlings -> EdTechTalk: Thanks Steve, you are too kind.

2010-12-02 20:04:09  alicebarr -> EdTechTalk: :) Thanks Steve! So nice!

2010-12-02 20:05:37  stevesoko -> EdTechTalk: Wes - You could actually bond with Gary Stager?!?!

2010-12-02 20:07:22  Sheila -> EdTechTalk: Who wants to learn in isolation? Connections are important for validation and reality checks. We were just talking about that on the way home from the conference.

2010-12-02 20:08:24  Wesley Fryer -> EdTechTalk: I won't claim to have bonded with him :-) He's taught me a lot tho!

2010-12-02 20:08:35  alicebarr -> EdTechTalk: Great point Sheila! Agree that the relationships formed are where we do our best work

2010-12-02 20:09:01  stevesoko -> EdTechTalk: Me as well. He makes me mad, but he ALWAYS makes me think.

2010-12-02 20:09:26  D Phillips -> EdTechTalk: how do you convince the "resistors" that the relationships/networks are so powerful?

2010-12-02 20:09:29  cheryloakes~seedlings -> EdTechTalk: Thinking is good, reflecting is best.

2010-12-02 20:09:55  alicebarr -> EdTechTalk: @dPhillips Great question

2010-12-02 20:10:10  cheryloakes~seedlings -> EdTechTalk: D Phillips, we just keep sharing good to great examples. Like Cherrie MacInnes, 3rd grade teacher from Brewer Maine. She was on the show early fall.

2010-12-02 20:10:22  cheryloakes~seedlings -> EdTechTalk: check edtechtalk.com/seedlings

2010-12-02 20:10:59  D Phillips -> EdTechTalk: I will...thanks for the resource

2010-12-02 20:11:04  Wesley Fryer -> EdTechTalk: Let's throw that question out to the chat room too! What sorts of things are frustrating to you (learning and tech wise) now in 2010 you thought in 2006 you wouldn't in 4 years...

2010-12-02 20:11:21  Sheila -> EdTechTalk: People not open to change.

2010-12-02 20:11:23  alicebarr -> EdTechTalk: See @DPhilips question above

2010-12-02 20:11:47  cheryloakes~seedlings -> EdTechTalk: Great question!

2010-12-02 20:11:50  Sheila -> EdTechTalk: Thinking technology isolates students and loose the social skills.

2010-12-02 20:12:23  Wesley Fryer -> EdTechTalk: "NCLB in the new costume of RTTT"

2010-12-02 20:12:26  cheryloakes~seedlings -> EdTechTalk: Yes, Shelia! get those studies, that show how much more students are reading and writing

2010-12-02 20:13:05  Wesley Fryer -> EdTechTalk: Maybe Seedlings (as well as k12online) needs marketing advice from marketing experts?

2010-12-02 20:13:06  cheryloakes~seedlings -> EdTechTalk: NCLB and RTTT really are the emperor's new clothes

2010-12-02 20:13:51  cheryloakes~seedlings -> EdTechTalk: MariaK= put the technology in the hands of the learners.

2010-12-02 20:13:52  stevesoko -> EdTechTalk: The focus on testing/data collection/SRBI/RTI is taking so much time and teacher attention, it is hard for me to cut through that. I do much less podcasting/Web 2.0/project learning than Study Island.

2010-12-02 20:14:25  cheryloakes~seedlings -> EdTechTalk: Oh, Steve, what get's the most bang for the buck.

2010-12-02 20:15:26  Sheila -> EdTechTalk: Wow! Is this show #100? Congrats!

2010-12-02 20:15:38  cheryloakes~seedlings -> EdTechTalk: Yes, we are amazed at this!

2010-12-02 20:15:44  Wesley Fryer -> EdTechTalk: we do have to all be judicious in where we "digitally invest"

2010-12-02 20:15:51  D Phillips -> EdTechTalk: lol

2010-12-02 20:16:13  Wesley Fryer -> EdTechTalk: That would be a good blog meme: Where do you digitally invest? (time and energy wise)

2010-12-02 20:16:19  MariaK -> EdTechTalk: @sheila - are you who I think you are?  :)

2010-12-02 20:16:25  cheryloakes~seedlings -> EdTechTalk: Yes, Wes!

2010-12-02 20:16:32  Sheila -> EdTechTalk: Maybe . . . .

2010-12-02 20:16:42  cheryloakes~seedlings -> EdTechTalk: MariaK, let me introduce you to Shelia :-)

2010-12-02 20:16:52  alicebarr -> EdTechTalk: http://www.ascd.org/publications/books/110036/chapters/A-Study-Guide-for...

2010-12-02 20:16:58  Sheila -> EdTechTalk: :D

2010-12-02 20:17:07  stevesoko -> EdTechTalk: Cheryl - Chris Lehman inspireds and challenged me to today talking about what is in my "zone of control" and deciding what is one thing I can change in 30 days , 3 months, a year.

2010-12-02 20:17:31  cheryloakes~seedlings -> EdTechTalk: Oh, what a great challenge, what are you thinking?

2010-12-02 20:17:38  Wesley Fryer -> EdTechTalk: http://www.amazon.com/Learning-Lincoln-Leadership-Practices-Success/dp/1...

2010-12-02 20:17:58  cheryloakes~seedlings -> EdTechTalk: I changed and went back to the classroom. I have a happy heart!

2010-12-02 20:18:00  Wesley Fryer -> EdTechTalk: that's the link for "Learning from Lincoln"

2010-12-02 20:19:03  Sheila -> EdTechTalk: That makes sense Alice.

2010-12-02 20:19:29  Wesley Fryer -> EdTechTalk: that's great Steve - I wish I could have been there to hear him. Sounds like it was a great message.

2010-12-02 20:19:47  Wesley Fryer -> EdTechTalk: If the digital divide is getting bigger in Maine, what is it doing in Oklahoma?

2010-12-02 20:20:02  Wesley Fryer -> EdTechTalk: yes, leadership is KEY

2010-12-02 20:20:06  cheryloakes~seedlings -> EdTechTalk: Welcome kathymals!!!

2010-12-02 20:20:09  Sheila -> EdTechTalk: Hi KathyMals!

2010-12-02 20:20:39  MariaK -> EdTechTalk: Hi Kathy !

2010-12-02 20:21:04  MariaK -> EdTechTalk: How have you been - it's been a while

2010-12-02 20:21:36  Wesley Fryer -> EdTechTalk: Man where did the time go?!

2010-12-02 20:21:37  stevesoko -> EdTechTalk: 1. I need to do more "professional " blogging. Writing makes me think and wrestle with the big ideas, rather thna FB and Twitter. 2. Fertilize the small group of my district folks that are doing good stuff, re-energize them and me. 3. Lynn Reedy and I will do some online PD betwen our towns this winter. Did it lat year. Lynn & her teachers wil make it better. 4. Per Wes' preso - I am squeezing money for Ipod Touch w/ cameras for things like Story Robe.

2010-12-02 20:21:55  alicebarr -> EdTechTalk: This is a great list Steve

2010-12-02 20:22:04  Sheila -> EdTechTalk: In these economic times, are schools holding on to tech integrators?

2010-12-02 20:22:34  D Phillips -> EdTechTalk: @stevesoko I like your list

2010-12-02 20:22:49  Wesley Fryer -> EdTechTalk: I agree blogging leads to deeper idea wresting Steve... more reflection.

2010-12-02 20:22:53  D Phillips -> EdTechTalk: beneficial to see your reflection

2010-12-02 20:23:15  Wesley Fryer -> EdTechTalk: Maria, in NH the edtech org is affiliated with the admin org, right?

2010-12-02 20:23:27  cheryloakes~seedlings -> EdTechTalk: Steve, excellent! I know you can do it.

2010-12-02 20:23:37  MariaK -> EdTechTalk: just for the McA conference, Wes

2010-12-02 20:23:57  Wesley Fryer -> EdTechTalk: that relationship is GREAT I'd think.... so important.

2010-12-02 20:24:09  stevesoko -> EdTechTalk: And next Thursday I will do 30 mins at BOE about how great Study Island test prep, is being used in after school clubs per my Supt request.

2010-12-02 20:24:44  Wesley Fryer -> EdTechTalk: Steve: It will be great if that can lead to sharing student publishing too down the road!

2010-12-02 20:25:05  stevesoko -> EdTechTalk: One can only hope....

2010-12-02 20:28:36  alicebarr -> EdTechTalk: @sheila re above: We have to make them understand tat integrators are teachers and they can't do without us :)

2010-12-02 20:29:11  Sheila -> EdTechTalk: Wish we had one!

2010-12-02 20:29:11  D Phillips -> EdTechTalk: PEW survey...52...would have been higher if I would have gotten that tattoo!
