21:07:08 [Message] LangLabCindy -> -EdTechTalk: thanks for sharing - have enjoyed hearing danah's work before, but didn't know about this
21:08:38 [Message] ColetteC -> -EdTechTalk: http://www.mywebspiration.com/
21:09:24 [Message] JohnS -> -EdTechTalk: Cool. Kind of reminds me of Addictomatic: http://addictomatic.com/
21:09:49 [Message] sroseman -> -EdTechTalk: what was that meta search engine
21:10:54 [Message] JohnS -> -EdTechTalk: @sroseman Joongel
21:11:04 [Message] sroseman -> -EdTechTalk: thanks
21:11:11 [Message] sharonp -> -EdTechTalk: http://voicethread4education.wikispaces.com/
21:11:32 [Message] Sarah h -> -EdTechTalk: webspiration looks interesting.  We are 2 or 3 versions behind on Inspiration.  I like it, but not enough to pay for an upgrade
21:11:37 [Message] sharonp -> -EdTechTalk: @sue joongel.com
21:12:13 [Message] sroseman -> -EdTechTalk: got it
21:14:12 [Message] PeggyG -> -EdTechTalk: I'm so glad I'm getting to hear from Colette! I'm a huge fan or her wikispace for Voicethread and share it with everyone!!
21:14:12 [Message] cheri t -> -EdTechTalk: phew! 2 computers later
21:14:34 [Message] cheri t -> -EdTechTalk: hi everyone!!
21:14:46 [Message] sharonp -> -EdTechTalk: hi Cheri -nice of you to join us!
21:14:57 [Message] cheri t -> -EdTechTalk: you're so welcome Sharon :-)
21:16:44 [Message] PeggyG -> -EdTechTalk: it is the most comprehensive collection of educational voicethreads anywhere! it's so great to have access to all of those examples in one location!
21:17:16 [Message] sharonp -> -EdTechTalk: questions?
21:17:47 [Message] LangLabCindy -> -EdTechTalk: wiki will be a great resource - thanks for sharing!
21:18:57 [Message] PeggyG -> -EdTechTalk: I highly recommend subscribing to the RSS feed for the wikispace so you can see everytime a new VT has been added. :-)
21:19:08 [Message] sharonp -> -EdTechTalk: great idea
21:22:23 [Message] PeggyG -> -EdTechTalk: @Colette--some interesting ideas you shared about other ways to organize the site. One think I'd find helpful is to be able to go directly to some good examples where students are interacting with each other on a VT (more than just a presentation or report with no responses.
21:23:24 [Message] PeggyG -> -EdTechTalk: Having categories can sometimes be problematic because VTs overlapd categories (like gr 3-5/math). Is there a way to tag or cross-post?
21:24:05 [Message] cheri t -> -EdTechTalk: gabcast.com
21:24:07 [Message] sharonp -> -EdTechTalk: gabcast
21:24:12 [Message] cheri t -> -EdTechTalk: gcast.com
21:24:34 [Message] sharonp -> -EdTechTalk: wonder if this is something we can do in Canada?
21:25:22 [Message] PeggyG -> -EdTechTalk: that's a great suggestion about using audacity or gabcast to record and then upload to VT.
21:25:55 [Message] PeggyG -> -EdTechTalk: advantage of audacity is that you can edit it before you upload it, if needed.
21:27:54 [Message] PeggyG -> -EdTechTalk: can you talk about how you can upload video to VTs? both as part of presentation and video responses/comments
21:29:26 [Message] PeggyG -> -EdTechTalk: outstanding suggestion! using Google presentation for students to work in collaborative groups, record audio separately and then save as PDF and upload to VT.
21:30:39 [Message] cheri t -> -EdTechTalk: Hi Jim - welcome
21:30:53 [Message] JimBurkeMaine -> -EdTechTalk: :)
21:31:03 [Message] LangLabCindy -> -EdTechTalk: Great idea to focus on incorporating conversation!
21:32:21 [Message] PeggyG -> -EdTechTalk: http://voicethread4education.wikispaces.com/Best+Practices  this page on the wiki is really valuable and loaded with great suggestions for different ways to use VT
21:33:46 [Message] ColetteC -> -EdTechTalk: Project in progress http://voicethread.com/share/270990/
21:34:51 [Message] PeggyG -> -EdTechTalk: you can't thread your comments
21:34:52 [Message] sharonp -> -EdTechTalk: http://edtechvision.wikispaces.com/voicethread
21:36:05 [Message] cheri t -> -EdTechTalk: Suzy does some great things
21:36:07 [Message] cheri t -> -EdTechTalk: Suzy Vesper
21:37:12 [Message] KarenJan -> -EdTechTalk: I think VT is the best, easiest tools for differentiation
21:37:36 [Message] LangLabCindy -> -EdTechTalk: @KarenJan - please say more!  what do you mean?
21:37:41 [Message] PeggyG -> -EdTechTalk: I actually contributed a lot of the links and resources to Suzie's wikispace. :-)
21:38:25 [Message] sharonp -> -EdTechTalk: Peggy you are a wannabe classroom teacher still, aren't you?
21:38:44 [Message] KarenJan -> -EdTechTalk: @langlab - can be customized, individualized in so many ways and offers students alternative ways to access the curriculum AND demonstrate what they know beyond paper/pencil activities
21:39:33 [Message] LangLabCindy -> -EdTechTalk: thanks!
21:40:06 [Message] KarenJan -> -EdTechTalk: @langlab - does that help or do you want specific examples?
21:40:15 [Message] PeggyG -> -EdTechTalk: yup-wannabe classroom teacher-I wish I had all of these wonderful tools when I was teaching and a principal!! :-)
21:44:44 [Message] sharonp -> -EdTechTalk: I have to teach MS word.... very hard for me...
21:46:02 [Message] PeggyG -> -EdTechTalk: excellent point--don't teach the specific software but teach "word processing" regardless of platform.
21:47:24 [Message] LangLabCindy -> -EdTechTalk: my school has issues with teachers encouraging to have google accounts because google terms say you must be 18.  your thoughts?
21:47:44 [Message] sharonp -> -EdTechTalk: didn't know that about the terms
21:47:52 [Message] LangLabCindy -> -EdTechTalk: that should say encouraging STUDENTS to have google accounts
21:48:06 [Message] PeggyG -> -EdTechTalk: http://aztea.wikispaces.com/Westside_Workshops-07-08 This is a link of sites I compiled for our AzTEA Voicethread workshop last year--maybe there'll be a few new resources for you to check out--Colette's site is right at the top of the list :-) Scroll down page past the podcasting workshop resources.
21:48:38 [Message] JohnS -> -EdTechTalk: @LangLabCindy: their TOS apply to all of their services. By that logic, students can't even USE google to do searches.
21:48:41 [Message] PeggyG -> -EdTechTalk: teachers can create the accounts for students
21:49:14 [Message] sharonp -> -EdTechTalk: @JohnS that is funny! :-)
21:49:15 [Message] LangLabCindy -> -EdTechTalk: @JohnS I'll tell them :-)
21:49:23 [Message] ColetteC -> -EdTechTalk: http://sites.google.com/site/postcardgeography/Home
21:49:52 [Message] LangLabCindy -> -EdTechTalk: @PeggyG Works for elementary, but not HS
21:50:25 [Message] PeggyG -> -EdTechTalk: I love that postcard geography project! much cheaper than sending them snail mail and much more creative! :-)
21:52:05 [Message] PeggyG -> -EdTechTalk: there are revision histories on google sites--don't they have them on google maps? too bad!
21:53:34 [Message] PeggyG -> -EdTechTalk: why does the Google help forum offer suggestions for uses with high school students if they aren't allowed to use it?
21:54:23 [Message] JohnS -> -EdTechTalk: google apps for edu is very cool. We just signed up, and started using it with a few staff members.
21:56:58 [Message] PeggyG -> -EdTechTalk: ASU (AZ State Univ) has started using Google apps on their server and I'm loving the movement toward more web 2.0 tools (away from BlackBoard!)
21:57:17 [Message] cheri t -> -EdTechTalk: @Peggy - that's great news
21:57:23 [Message] cheri t -> -EdTechTalk: are they hiring? :-)
21:57:49 [Message] PeggyG -> -EdTechTalk: @cheri T--not sure about the hiring--I'll keep my ears open!
21:57:51 [Message] cheri t -> -EdTechTalk: we're still using the BB version of WebCT
21:58:14 [Message] PeggyG -> -EdTechTalk: thinnk they just hired a couple of new tech instructors this fall.
21:58:43 [Message] cheri t -> -EdTechTalk: remember I interviewed at ASU-W in 2002
21:59:29 [Message] PeggyG -> -EdTechTalk: They have a tendency to hire part-time lecturers rather than full-time faculty.
22:00:04 [Message] PeggyG -> -EdTechTalk: Wish I had known you then Cheri-I was at ASU-W at that time.
22:00:32 [Message] LangLabCindy -> -EdTechTalk: been great to hear...thanks!
22:00:57 [Message] cheri t -> -EdTechTalk: thanks everyone!!
22:00:59 [Message] LangLabCindy -> -EdTechTalk: Does Google Apps for Educators have same age limit - 18?
