Listen in as we kick the tires on a new Drupal site that we will be using this fall to connect our students. This summer Paul Allison and Susan Ettenheim invited Alice Barr, George Mayo, and Chris Sloan to work with Bill Fitzgerald and his colleagues at Funny Monkey to create a Drupal site for Youth Voices. In the weeks to come we will be inviting you to have you join our students as they begin to publish their images, videos, text, and audio on Youth Voices. Please plan to join us.

Teachers Teaching Teachers, Youth Voices, Personal Learning Space, Youth Twitter ... group of teachers might want to continue working together ... and how the software decisions we need to make this Spring can support our hopes and plans.

Dave Cormier and Bonnie Stewart joined this show to discuss their project "A Living Archives." As you will hear them explain, this project, which is funded by Canadian Heritage, has students from all three school districts on Prince Edward Island (PEI) using leading edge technologies to bring PEI history and heritage to life. Bonnie and Dave have been building partnerships between the University of Prince Edward Island, the Provincial Archives and Records Office, the PEI Museum and Heritage Foundation, the PEI Library, and the three PEI Boards of Education.

Hosting of WebCast Community

I am preparing to build a place to start the EdTechTalkK12 home. Anne Leftwich and I are looking at hosting a weekly (?) webcast that focuses more on K12 classroom practices. I can build a drupal on my Bluehost account or should I build one on the WB server. I want to be as connected as possible to the WB/ETT community but don't want to tax resources, I have appropriate alternatives. Jeff, when I asked before you said you were really neutral. If you are still really neutral, then I am thinking about building something that is a component of the WB/ETT world.

This week we discussed Leadership and Technology with Tim Lauer, Principal of Lewis Elementary School in Portland, OR. Tim is a model Principal who has a wonderful sense of appropriate use of technology in education. This is a must listen for those of you who envision being in a leadership role at a school.

Next week, we'll be celebrating our one year anniversary two weeks late. The week after, we'll be discussing faculty professional development with Jeff Ritter, from St. John's School in Houston Texas. See you all then.

Our guests this week were two Writing Project teachers who use Drupal in their work with students and teachers.

Jason Shiroff is a 4th/5th Grade teacher at the Odyssey School in Denver, Colorado. Jason is also the Tech Liaison for the Denver Writing Project.
Will Banks is an Assistant Professor in the Department of English at East Carolina University, and he is the Director of the Tar River Writing Project.

March 28, 2007 - This week, we invited several National Writing Project (NWP) technology liaisons to join us to talk about how they manage Content Management Systems (CMS’s) for their local sites, schools, and classrooms.We discussed the possibilities of using the DrupalEd profile that Bill Fitzgerald has recently been piloting, and is threatening to release within weeks. Our conclusion was less than clear but it will make for a good show next week! See you then.

Alex is on the planning committee and arvind is the Blog manager for the NYSAIS Managers of Information Technology conference at Mohonk Mountain house in New Paltz, New York this November (where EdTechTalk's very own Dave Cormier will be presenting). We discussed how to extend and enhance the conference with Blogs, Wikis, Podcasts, Webcasts, and other web 2.0 tools.
