Paul Allison and Susan Ettenheim were joined this week by their colleague of many years, Chris Sloan, who teaches English, media and photography at Judge Memorial Catholic High School in Salt Lake City Utah.

Paul, Susan and Chris introduced their work with students and each other to Ron Link, a English and video teacher in the Bronx, who has recently begun to work with the New York City Writing Project, and with Fred Haas, the Technology Liaison for the Boston Writing Project, and teacher of English and screenwriting.

21:59:03 PeggyG: the student posts that use the leading questions/sentence starters seem to be more substantive than the one who say I'm reading... and I'm on page... and so far it's boring.

22:01:23 PeggyG: very well articulated! kids have problems taking what they know and structure it into an essay--that's exactly what they need to learn to be successful on those tests :-)

22:02:58 PeggyG: the skills are very similar whether they are organizing their ideas for a video or for an essay--they need to learn how to do that so why not do it with content that is very nmotivating to them
