21:11:24 PeggyG : Oh so sorry! Too bad you can't earn income with all of the fabulous online projects you create!
21:11:30 JenWagner : LOL
21:11:36 JenWagner : Colleen thinks I should charge for them
21:11:42 JenWagner : $5 -- what do you think??
21:11:51 JenWagner : I can hear you
21:11:57 PeggyG : I think that would be VERY reasonable! Do it!
21:12:04 MarthaQ : I can hear you, too! But not Doug anymore.
21:12:07 JenWagner : not sure -- thinking about it
21:12:09 PeggyG : I can only hear one voice

21:12:56 PeggyG : Hi Matt
21:13:32 matt montagne : doug...digging the rap...a little beastie boy sounding
21:13:45 JenWagner : I know -- my fingers are boucnign to the beat too
21:14:00 PeggyG : Jen I should take a photo sign of you to NECC so people will know you're there with us in spirit! You were going to be the greeter for Blogger's Cafe to welcome new people.
21:14:00 matt montagne : this stuff is crackin!
21:14:08 JenWagner : OHHHHH would you
21:14:14 JenWagner : I know -- it is sad

21:14:23 PeggyG : but not Doug
21:14:26 MarthaQ : I lost Doug altogether.
21:14:30 JenWagner : Doug is POOF
21:14:48 JenWagner : but we can hear his music
21:14:50 matt montagne : alright Lorna!!!
21:14:50 MarthaQ : No one can hear Doug.
21:14:55 PeggyG : can't hear Matt either
21:15:02 JenWagner : we should assume DOUG is okay right???
21:15:09 matt montagne : keep talking lorna!!!
21:15:18 matt montagne : talk about the Red Wings!!!
21:15:18 JenWagner : this is Lorna or Martha??
21:15:20 sheila : go lorna
21:15:20 MarthaQ : Lorna, tell us things!
21:15:24 PeggyG : could Doug initiate the call to you?
21:15:27 matt montagne : The Red Wings are going to take the cup!!!
21:15:27 JenWagner : tell us the Laker score
21:15:33 MarthaQ : It is not me.
21:15:53 JenWagner : hmmmmm
21:16:12 JenWagner : matt -- go talk to Lorna
21:16:12 matt montagne : LET's GO RED WINGS!!!
21:16:24 matt montagne : can't hear Doug!!!
21:16:29 JenWagner : ohhh WizIQ
21:16:39 JenWagner : ohhhhhh go ahead and talk about WIZIQ
21:16:53 PeggyG : Oh WizIQ-that would be great. I tried to tune into the training that was posted for today but I guess it happened yesterday.
21:17:12 JenWagner : hmmm now music is gone too
21:17:24 JenWagner : ohhh DOUG
21:17:32 PeggyG : Silence is golden?? Here comes Doug!
21:17:51 JenWagner : ohhh both Lorna and Doug
21:17:53 PeggyG : I hear Lorna & Doug
21:18:21 PeggyG : HAHAHAHA
21:18:30 JenWagner : the red wings are........ ahhh hockey???
21:18:33 matt montagne : hooray!!! I'm on the Brainstorm!!!!
21:18:37 PeggyG : Yes hockey
21:18:47 matt montagne : Red Wings are hockey Jen...
21:18:50 PeggyG : Welcome Matt!
21:19:00 JenWagner : is this an important game??
21:19:09 matt montagne : I'm pretty psyched to be on the brainstorm
21:19:36 matt montagne : JenW...the Red Wings are in the Stanley Cup Finals...against Pittsburg Penguins
21:19:43 PeggyG : Was surprised to see the WizIQ stuff posted on CR20 since they use Elluminate to broadcast
21:19:45 JenWagner : is this a final game???
21:20:00 JenWagner : I tried WizIQ and also Elluminate and also Yugma
21:20:04 PeggyG : How about Twiddla?
21:20:12 JenWagner : have not used Twiddla
21:20:25 JenWagner : if you write elluminate you can qualify for Elluminate LITE
21:20:30 PeggyG : It was pretty good and free.
21:20:32 JenWagner : which allows you to have up to 100
21:20:55 JenWagner : Lorna is from Canada too???
21:21:03 dougsymington : yup
21:21:04 JenWagner : is this a canuck show tonight???
21:21:12 JenWagner : ahhh Matt is from WI
21:21:15 matt montagne : I'm a canuck wannabee
21:21:19 dougsymington : close enuff
21:21:28 JenWagner : very close to the border
21:21:56 PeggyG : Twiddla has white board, audio, chat, screensharing, active webpages--pretty cool
21:22:13 sheila : was on the phone, but I'm back.
21:23:37 matt montagne : I grew up in Detroit and I always went over to Windsor, Canada for various purposes (eg-drinking beer when I was 19!!)
21:23:43 PeggyG : Twiddla is pretty simple to use--doesn't have hand-raising feature of Elluminate.
21:23:53 matt montagne : so I became a real big fan of Canada at an early age!!!
21:24:07 JenWagner : been to Canada -- Fort Smith, Yellow Knife, Edmonton and Vancouver
21:24:11 PeggyG : You can also draw on the screen to circle, arrow, etc.
21:24:30 JenWagner : Ijust tried a new tool on Sunday--- scribblr I think
21:24:37 PeggyG : If I can learn to use Twiddla, anyone can! :-)
21:25:26 JenWagner : ohhhh a dog -- how cool
21:25:32 JenWagner : I bet Mac will show up soon
21:26:16 JenWagner : well 1 reason is blockage
21:26:16 PeggyG : Does scribblr have audio? screen capture?
21:26:19 JenWagner : filtering
21:26:26 JenWagner : PeggyG -- more of a whiteboard sharing
21:26:31 JenWagner : and the 2nd reason is WHY
21:26:43 JenWagner : I don't think we have hit a WHY to do it -- I know we can --
21:27:02 JenWagner : but how many teachers are really collaborating???? outside their classroom
21:27:06 JenWagner : I would say LIMITED
21:27:21 PeggyG : I thought a good why was demoing online tools with audio
21:27:26 JenWagner : LOL -- how many teachers are collaborating IN their classroom :)
21:27:52 sheila : In NH we had to have so many hours in tech for recertification. That got people learning. Now it's not mandatory.
21:27:53 JenWagner : I would use the tool -- if I was in the classroom -- but I LOL am not the norm
21:28:10 JenWagner : why did they change it SHEILA??
21:28:19 sheila : funding I think!
21:28:25 JenWagner : ahhhhh
21:28:30 JenWagner : interesting
21:28:48 PeggyG : A group of us got together online one night and just explored Twiddla--think Liz Davis started it. It was like playing in a sandbox with others. We learned a lot from each other.
21:29:15 JenWagner : Peggy -- But how many of you -- went and then taught other people outside of the network?? Just wondering -- not accusing
21:29:18 sheila : During the earthcast, my principal never came to see what was going on .. . no one did expect the reporter.
21:29:43 JenWagner : it just seems like we play with each other -- like now -- but that is where the ripple is ending
21:29:58 sheila : I do "tech Tuesdays" in my SAU. I"m a science teacher.
21:30:09 JenWagner : what is SAU??
21:30:14 PeggyG : I took the experience back and shared it with our AzTEA group-ed tech leaders. I don't teach in a classroom but they all work with teachers.
21:30:22 JenWagner : ohhhh cool
21:30:37 sheila : School Administrative Unit - collection of towns. Sorry about the lingo.
21:30:41 JenWagner : Elluminate is also a bit intimidating
21:30:51 PeggyG : I also posted it on our wikispace so they could go back and share it with their teachers.
21:30:51 JenWagner : Nope -- that is fine. I enjoy learning what initials stand for
21:31:03 JenWagner : PEGGYG is my hero!!
21:31:14 sheila : changing colors
21:31:40 PeggyG : No-you're my hero-I've learning so much from you!
21:31:42 JenWagner : itunes for some of us
21:31:45 JenWagner : real player
21:31:47 JenWagner : for some
21:31:53 JenWagner : I can count 6 tech tools we are using
21:32:03 JenWagner : :) nice to admire each other huh??
21:32:06 dougsymington : win media too!
21:32:15 PeggyG : Yup!
21:32:21 JenWagner : sometimes ustream
21:32:24 JenWagner : oovoo
21:32:33 JenWagner : ustream I think is the easiest to really get involved with
21:32:38 PeggyG : outdial systems?
21:32:47 PeggyG : We used them when I was a principal
21:32:54 JenWagner : I know no screen share -- but -- still easy to log on
21:33:07 sheila : Lorna what was the system?
21:33:27 PeggyG : I did a weekly outdial and then all of the teachers posted a weekly message on their hotline which parents had to call in to receive.
21:33:44 JenWagner : Matt -- do you know the name???
21:33:53 PeggyG : Is it PhoneMaster?
21:34:59 JenWagner : I am so tempted to send Matt a LONG email with attachments right now :)
21:35:06 PeggyG : :-)
21:35:15 sheila : Do it! I won't tell . . .
21:35:26 JenWagner : a HUGE attachment
21:35:29 matt montagne : NOOOOOOO JEN!!!!
21:35:32 JenWagner : LOL
21:35:45 matt montagne : :p
21:35:52 PeggyG : PhoneMaster was what we used for outdials, homework hotlines, etc.
21:35:58 JenWagner : smiles -- some day -- perhaps next April Fools Day
21:36:25 JenWagner : or next time with I come to WI :)
21:37:02 PeggyG : I think the key is providing alternatives for parents-some prefer phone calls, some email and a few know about wikis and RSS-but very few!
21:37:21 JenWagner : gotta take a phone call -- be back soon
21:37:24 JenWagner : :)
21:37:30 PeggyG : Hurry back
21:37:43 sheila : Is it a "fear" of logging in and not knowing what they are signing up for?giving info out to cyber space.
21:38:09 PeggyG : @sheila great question! probably all of that
21:38:12 matt montagne : where did JenW go??
21:38:18 sheila : phone
21:38:50 sheila : But wait is this material on the state test?
21:38:56 sheila : :)
21:39:16 PeggyG : Yes Lorna-we need to find ways to provide tutorials online that people can listen to at their convenience
21:39:44 PeggyG : They don't have to be created by everyone--just accessible to everyone. :-)
21:39:55 sheila : That's why administrators are hesitant with technology in our area. Looking foolish.
21:40:21 PeggyG : Yes that is a big threat to many administrators
21:41:09 PeggyG : some of the ideas shared in past parents as partners sessions were great--using kids to help their parents learn how to use the tools
21:41:16 sheila : We did do an institute in our state for them and gave them a laptop. They showed up to get the machines, but little follow through. Not a priority.
21:41:53 PeggyG : @sheila that was a great idea--probably just needed to fill in the gaps with some required followup to keep the computers.
21:42:00 sheila : hear! hear!
21:42:28 PeggyG : How do we pick a spot?
21:43:14 PeggyG : I watched some GenYes kids share how they were teaching teachers how to use technology last month and it was awesome!
21:43:48 PeggyG : I think that's a great way to do--get the kids involved
21:44:23 PeggyG : The GenYes kids had a period each day but they also spent after school time as a service and they loved it--so did the teachers!
21:44:45 sheila : Our school is looking into 1:1 and going before the school board. We plan to show a typical day in the life of a student using technology and web 2.0 tools. Would love to brainstorm with some people.
21:45:23 PeggyG : @Sheila-where is your school?
21:45:32 sheila : NH on the seacoast
21:45:55 PeggyG : Yes I think Parents as Partners would be a great place to organize it.
21:46:25 PeggyG : Bring in some GenYes students who have had experience supporting teachers--there are a bunch in Paradise Valley District-AZ
21:46:56 PeggyG : Invite Sylvia Martinez to help facilitate that since she's President of GenYes
21:47:37 PeggyG : Wise move--slow things down and let them unfold
21:48:56 PeggyG : I think GenYes is a great model and could easily be expanded to include the concept with parents
21:49:45 PeggyG : Are you trying VoiceThread with the Italian?
21:50:21 PeggyG : Capturing the sessions is very important so people can view them anytime and as many times as they like
21:51:20 PeggyG : If it's content you're capturing and not the tool for capturing it does it matter if things change?
21:52:15 PeggyG : very interesting perspectives on reading :-)
21:52:48 PeggyG : I hope I can join you for the Monday brainstorming. :-)
21:53:21 PeggyG : The kids will be excited to teach anyone but their OWN parents :-)
21:53:35 sheila : True Peggy!
21:54:08 PeggyG : Thanks everyone. Some good brainstorming tonight :-) And some new tunes :-)
21:54:31 dougsymington : yes thanks, and you're welcome
21:54:33 sheila : Thanks all!
21:54:44 PeggyG : Good night!
